Pike's Dog House

Pike got to move into his doghouse on Oct 3rd. This doghouse is fully insulated (roof, walls and floor) to keep him warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This house has also been elevated slightly off the ground to keep it dry. The air can circulate under the doghouse and no water can run into it. The doggie door was also installed for added protection against the elements. The roof is hinged for accessibility. This is a very simple plan with wood siding. Pike is the type of dog that would not be too happy with a lot of frilly extras. He is a large German Shepherd weighing in at 110 lbs.. This house was built especially for him, just as future doghouses will be built special for the dog that will reside in it. Next week, construction will begin on the female's doghouses. I am hoping to make their houses a bit fancier.
